Ship bows photos

From the largest container ships to the smallest fishing boat on the Riviera, the bows cut the ocean to make their way to all vessels in the world. They have all colors, all distinctive signs of life at sea, but they keep strength and dignity. Rusty, discolored, damaged, they remain straight and continue their mission :bringing the boats to their port.

Ship bows

Etrave de boutre à Madagascar

Mile after mile, the steel blade incises the seas, signing the surface of an endless V and opening a temporary gap where the hull slips. On all large ships, the stem continues on its lower part by the bulbous bow, ball-shaped. This bulb is dedicated to create a wave in front of the boat and thus reduce the friction of the hull with water, to gain speed and save fuel.

For more than 40 years Philip Plisson photographed the sea in all its forms and in all oceans, crossing all the world's ships. I invite you through the photos of bow to travel and discover our images: the Queen Mary 2 bow, trawlers bows in Brittany, cargo in Bangkok bows, shipping boats bows in the port of Essaouira, dhows in Madagascar or traditional boat bows in Oman via the rusty bows in the Piraeus port in Greece.

Our photos of bows, whether on plexi, canvas or digital print, will bring a contemporary look to your interior design.
