The Jument lighthouse, Finistère, Brittany
Learn more about photography
The Jument lighthouse marks the Fromveur passage, between Ouessant and Molène islands in the Iroise Sea, known as the most dangerous in Europe. It was built between 1904 and 1911, on the reef of Ar Gazeg (the Mare in Breton) and classified as Historic Monuments in 2017. Lighthouse keepers have always called lighthouses built on land the "paradises", those built on islands the "purgatories" and finally those built at sea the "hells". They generally began their career in "hell", to end in "paradise". In October 2014, Petra storm has once again made life hell at the Jument lighthouse!
