Belem The last French tallship
Learn more about photography
"It is October 1995. I have a meeting with Belem at the end of the afternoon between the islands of Groix and Belle-Île for the last photo session by helicopter for the production of the book: The Centenary of Belem. The weather is particularly difficult this day: drizzle, no wind, flat sea. As agreed, we take off from La Trinité at 5 p.m. to travel to Belle-Île and wait for Belem. A very nice surprise awaits us! The wind picked up, the sky became stormy with the open sea but above all a very nice swell train accompanied this change of weather conditions. Belem shows up with a few sails tight and taut, but still enough to keep the boat alive. I think this is the most beautiful photo session I have ever had with this boat! Since then, this photo has gone around the world, whether in poster (30x40 cm or 60x80 cm) or in photo on canvas. Welcome aboard!" - Philip Plisson
